COOPERATIVA JOLOM MAYAETIK

SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS, CHIAPAS.

Desde los años 80, las mujeres de las comunidades indígenas de los altos de Chiapas empezaron a organizarse. Yolanda Castro, Micaela Hernández y Rosalinda Santiz fueron las fundadoras.

En el origen de la cooperativa los hombres vendían los textiles y recibían los pagos, dejando a las mujeres artesanas sin sus ganancias, las mujeres no tenían derecho a salir de casa, mucho menos a vender sus piezas.

La comunicación era difícil, no había carreteras, las pocas artesanas que podían salir de casa tenían que caminar de 2 a 3 horas para llevar y traer sus textiles. Gracias a la tenacidad de estas mujeres en los años 90 la cooperativa se consolida y comienza a trabajar codo a codo con kinal antzetik cooperativa hermana.

Actualmente las mujeres participan en talleres, reuniones y capacitaciones para mejorar su vida y sus creaciones.
